This amazing event happened sometime in the first decade of the New Millennium. The horns did indeed get up and do the Groucho Walk.
Another improvisation from around the same time. I think Aron Kaufman and I had the bass line and groove coming in.
The Lunar Glee Club
was my main band in Ann Arbor through the mid-1980s. Several of the members have become life-long friends.

I met most of these guys in early September of 1983, the same week I met my wife.

When we first started we were a big group, with nine members - trumpet, tenor and alto saxes, traps, congas, percussion and timbales, electric guitar and two electric basses.

Lots of energy, lots of camaraderie, lots of notes.
After I left town in 1988 the rest of the guys changed the band's name to the Lunar Octet and kept the thing going for another decade.

When I moved back to Ann Arbor in the year 2000 after being out of town for twelve years, the Lunar Glee Club arose again in the form of weekly jam sessions at Oz's Music that persisted most of the way through the Bush years.

All of the audio samples on this page are from that New Millennial version of the band.

Who knows, maybe there's another chapter still to come.
About a week after I got my Sousaphone in late 2010, Paul Vornhagen and Aron Kaufman came over to my house to check it out. This improvisation happened that night.
