Brass
I play several brass instruments, though these days I mostly confine myself to Cornet and Sousaphone.
To achieve mastery of a brass instrument requires a level of dedication that almost defies belief. My sense is that in order to play these things really well I would pretty much need to live with a mouthpiece on my face.

Well, I play other instruments and have other interests in music and drama, and so I have never mastered a brass instrument. But that doesn't mean I can't love them and play them and, within the circumscribed sphere of my capacity, be a significant conduit for music.

On this page I'll post a few recordings of me playing brass.

The Sousaphone is a noble voice. And it can groove...

I love playing accompaniment to vocals on
cornet. Opposite Shore is an 8000 Holes tune.
Words by David A. Mason.
Oddly, Clarinet and Sousaphone are very
well suited to each other. Steve Hiltner joins me on clarinet
for this improvisation.
